Electrical networks in buildings.
Electrical installation means building a complete electrical system for a building from scratch — from the incoming distribution board to the last socket outlet. Competitors run cable, fit circuit breakers, wire lighting, assemble a motor control circuit and commission a modern building-automation system.
The competition starts with a bare wall and must end with a working, tested and documented installation. Every conductor is labelled, every connection is verified with instruments, and insulation resistance and protective-device operation are recorded.
It is one of the most popular skills in Uzbekistan — 14 competitors took part at the Samarkand stage in 2025.
Requirements
Reading single- and three-phase diagrams, calculating voltage drop and protective devices, selecting correct cable cross-sections.
In practice: chasing walls, installing trunking and tray, correct crimping of terminals and ferrules, and neat, readable assembly of the distribution board.
Programming and commissioning a KNX or equivalent building-automation system.
Equipment
Wall chaser and rotary hammer, cable cutters and crimping tools, wire strippers.
Measurement: multimeter, insulation resistance tester, RCD tester, phase rotation meter, laser level.
Materials: circuit breakers, residual-current devices, trunking, conduit, terminal blocks, KNX modules.
Assessment criteria
Function and safety come first: when energised the installation must work correctly and the protective devices must trip within the specified time. A failure here can void the module.
Then the measured part: mounting height and alignment, route compliance with the drawing, labelling and documentation.
Judgement marks: quality of board assembly, neatness of cable routing, and housekeeping.
